The world-famous logo featuring the smiling sun was created in Aarhus by OOA activist Anne Lund in 1975. The Sun symbol became the official logo for OOA (Organization for Information on Nuclear Power) in 1976, an organization that was active until 2000. The logo is known worldwide, and today, the Sun Foundation holds the license for the famous logo, which has been translated into 45 different languages.
In 1983, the smiling sun became a permanent part of the Aarhus cityscape and is today one of the city's most famous pieces of street art.
