Greek Flag Enamel Pin
The Greek Flag Enamel Pin features a white cross in the top left corner and nine stripes alternating between white and blue. The cross symbolizes the Greek Orthodox Church.
There are various theories about what the nine horizontal stripes represent. One theory suggests that the stripes correspond to the letters in the Greek word for freedom. Another theory proposes that they symbolize the nine Muses - goddesses of art and civilization. The colors blue and white are interpreted as references to the sea and sky.
The flag's origin dates back to the Greek War of Independence in the 1820s. When Greece declared its independence in 1822, the flag was officially adopted.
