Norway's National Flag

The Norwegian flag does not have a nickname in the same way the Danish Dannebrog does. It is also a relatively younger flag, designed and adopted in 1821. The flag follows the Nordic flag tradition with a Nordic cross and incorporates elements from both the Danish and Swedish national flags. Norway, along with Sweden, was part of a union with Denmark (the Kalmar Union) for several years, and this union was represented under the Danish flag.
