Ukraine's coat of arms, named "Tryzub" ("Тризуб"), features a blue shield with a golden trident. It is, alongside the Ukrainian flag, one of the country's most significant symbols. Officially, the coat of arms is referred to as the princely state symbol of Volodymyr the Great. The modern "trident" symbol was adopted as the coat of arms of the Ukrainian People's Republic in 1918.
